Seco/Warwick: Delivery of a bright annealing furnace for carbon steel tubes

Seco/Warwick Allied Pvt. Ltd. commissions a 200 kg/h electrically heated conveyor type bright annealing furnace for carbon steel tubes at M/s. Anand Seamless Tubes Pvt. Ltd at Kadi, Dist. Mahesana, Gujarat in India. The furnace has been custom designed.

Fujian Fuxin Steel with new melt shop

After the successful start-up of the stainless steel melt shop of Fujian Fuxin Special Steel (part of Formosa Plastics Corporation) in Zhangzhou, China, by the SMS group in 2014, recently the Duplex VOD X-eed unit supplied by SMS Mevac, Germany, was put into operation. This plant represents the extension phase of the melt shop.

Alcoa completes acquisition of Tital

Alcoa recently announced that it has completed the acquisition of privately held Tital. Alcoa closed the transaction after receiving all of the required global regulatory approvals. Tital is a leading manufacturer of titanium and aluminum structural castings for aircraft engines and airframes. This acquisition strengthens Alcoa’s ability to capture growing demand for advanced aircraft engine components.

Polish foundry orders 90 t holding furnace from Otto Junker

Following the successful commissioning of a 10 t pouring furnace in the spring of this year, Otto Junker also received the order for the delivery, installation and commissioning of a 90 t channel induction furnace from the Polish foundry Odlewnia Żeliwa Lisie Kąty. This will be used as a storage and holding furnace as part of the company’s cupola melting operations. The furnace should also allow for closer temperature tolerances and improved analysis accuracy.

Dr. Wolfgang Andree, President of ABP Induction, LLC and Managing Director of ABP Induction Systems GmbH has stepped back from his position effective April 15, 2015. Till Schreiter, an international executive with over twenty years of experience in the electrical and metallurgical industries, will succeed Dr. Andree.
22.04.2015 | First deployment of new furnace type in Europe

Primetals to supply Electric Arc Furnace to Acciaieria Arvedi

Italian steel producer Acciaieria Arvedi S.p.A. has ordered an EAF Quantum from Primetals Technologies. This new type of electric arc furnace, to be installed in the Cremona steel works, reduces specific conversion costs of electric steel production by around 20 % and will have an annual production capacity of up to 1.57 million t of crude steel.
