The FutureGas project assesses the arising question of the future role of gas in an effective, cost-efficient and sustainable transition of the Danish energy system. The project includes all major stakeholders of the Danish gas industry, and addresses all main aspects of the gas value chain in the integrated energy system. FutureGas will provide future pathways for the Danish energy transition towards a sustainable future, with a detailed representation of the gas system as an integrated part of the future energy system.

Direct catalytic methanation of liquid biomass wastes

Biomass waste products can be converted into a medium methane content gas (Bio-SNG). In this feasibility study, Aspen plus process modelling has been used to design processes for the conversion of empty fruit bunch from the palm oil industry and glycerol from the biodiesel industry into Bio-SNG. This article presents the justification for conversion to Bio-SNG, designs of each process and how they might be integrated into the biodiesel or palm oil refinery.

Application of GIS Technologies in maintenance and development of a Gas Transmission System

The main role of GIS, in addition to providing spatial data, is to create analysis based on the spatial data and other input parameters for the purpose of the continuous monitoring and determination of the most suitable corridors and locations for the development of the gas transmission system. During the last ten years, Plinacro has been using and developing GIS on the ArcGIS platform, which serves to improve multiple business processes. This article will present all the benefits that GIS offers when integrated with other IT systems and included in the multiple business processes of the natural gas transmission company.
